Bears predicted to lose $80 million 6-time Pro Bowler to Bills

The Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson to help develop Caleb Williams and get the team back into the playoffs. However, the team could lose some key players in free agency before Johnson even calls a play.

The Bears traded for Keenan Allen last offseason. Allen signed a four-year, $80 million extension with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020. Last season was the final year of his deal. He had a below average season, but could still have suitors in free agency. TWSN’s Blake Meek predicted that Allen would leave the Bears and sign with the Buffalo Bills.

“The Bills don’t have a great receiving group,” wrote Meek. “They traded for Amari Cooper during the season and the trade never really worked out. Keon Coleman looks like he is going to be a solid receiver for them, but I’m not sure he ever becomes a number one option. The same can be said about Khalil Shakir. He is a good receiver, but as a number one option he leaves some things to be desired. However, adding those two receivers to Keenan Allen gives them a strong three man group, that while it may lack the elite number one receiver, gives them three receivers that defenses have to cover and pay attention to.”

Allen is a six-time Pro Bowler and has 11,274 career yards. He was a Pro Bowler as recently as 2023. Last season he had 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. Playing with Josh Allen and a chance to win a Super Bowl might be an appealing prospect for him in free agency.
