The NASCAR Cup Series races at Road America for just the third time since 1956 on Sunday in the Kwik Trip 250.
The course returned to the Cup Series calendar last year after a 60-plus-year hiatus. Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott captured the checkered flag in a fairly one-sided race.
One year on, Elliott looks poised to end up in victory lane once again. The Cup Series points leader will start Sunday’s race in the pole position after outpacing Stewart-Haas’ Chase Briscoe in qualifying Saturday.

If Elliott is able to repeat as champion at Road America, it would be his third win of the season. Elliott took the checkered flag atin May and at last week.

NASCAR at Road America live updates, highlights from Kiwi Trip 250
3:47 p.m.: Elliott holds a nearly four second edge over Briscoe after 10 laps. Seems the wheel issue he was concerned about prior to Sunday’s race hasn’t been too impactful so far.
3:41 p.m.: Ross Chastain doing Ross Chastain things. The No. 1 car makes an aggressive pass on Alex Bowman.
Chastain has received plenty of criticism for riding aggressively. Based on his start, though, it seems those comments haven’t bothered him too much.
3:38 p.m.: Kyle Busch and Aric Almirola collide with one another on Turn 5.

Could be a massive issue for Almirola, who seemed to suffer slight damage. Almirola sits a few spots outside the Cup Series playoff seeds. A good result today could go a long way in helping the Stewart-Haas driver qualify for the end-of-season tournament.
3:30 p.m.: Elliott holds pole position after two laps, although Elliott seemed to be concerned about his No. 9 car prior to the race. Something to watch out for going forward.
“Just be ready.”
A problem on the pace laps for the No. 9?

3:27 p.m.: And we’re off! Chase Elliott holds pole position, followed up by Chase Briscoe.
3:07 p.m.: The national anthem has been sang, the fighter jets are out and the racers are on the track. It’s time for some racing!
