{"id":75567,"date":"2024-08-07T13:00:13","date_gmt":"2024-08-07T13:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4dd2a2580c01563dece437c6"},"modified":"2024-08-07T13:00:13","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T13:00:13","slug":"patriots-wr-is-brutally-honest-about-disappointing-start-to-his-career","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.timesamerica.net\/patriots-wr-is-brutally-honest-about-disappointing-start-to-his-career\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriots WR is brutally honest about disappointing start to his career"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.timesamerica.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/patriots-wr-is-brutally-honest-about-disappointing-start-to-his-career.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Heading into the 2022 NFL draft, Baylor wide receiver Tyquan Thornton was expected to be a mid-round draft pick, but the <span class=\"waslinkname\">New England Patriots<\/span> took him in the second round.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton entered the league with blazing speed, but it was pretty evident that he&#8217;d have to grow a lot before he was ready to make an impact.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, through his first two seasons, Thornton has only appeared in 22 games, and even when he&#8217;s been on the field, his performance has been underwhelming.<\/p>\n<p>As he battles for a roster spot this year, the 23-year-old knows he has to show out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo years in, I haven\u2019t done anything, basically,\u201d Thornton said after a recent training camp session. \u201cSo Year 3, I definitely want to come out here and prove myself right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many wondered at the time if Thornton was the right pick, and two years into his career those people have been proven right to have been skeptical of the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton knows what&#8217;s being said about him, but he&#8217;s ready to compete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe doubt is always going to be out there,\u201d Thornton said. \u201cI\u2019ve been doubted all my life. So there\u2019s nothing to it. Just go out there and prove yourself right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Through New England&#8217;s 11 training camp sessions, <span class=\"waslinkname\">Thornton has been one of the top six players at the position<\/span>, but he&#8217;s also dealt with some injuries again.
