Click here.<\/span><\/footer>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"speakable\">A new Gallup survey explored how young Americans <span class=\"waslinkname\">cope with stress,<\/span> anxiety and other big emotions \u2013 and the results were mostly positive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The research was done in partnership with the Walton Family Foundation and Dr. Lisa Damour, a bestselling author and clinical adolescent psychologist who served as a consultant on Pixar\u2019s movie &#8220;Inside Out 2.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ohio-based Damour and the rest of the team dove deep into the Gen Z experience, exploring the relationship between teens and <span class=\"waslinkname\">their parents<\/span> and other support systems.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"waslinkname\"><strong>KIDS AND SMARTPHONES: HOW YOUNG IS TOO YOUNG? Only 28% want their parents to give advice.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"waslinkname\"><strong>GEN Z HAPPINESS IS MOST DRIVEN BY ONE SURPRISING THING, GALLUP POLL FINDS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Younger Gen Z respondents are more likely to search for parental reassurance and physical comfort \u2014 but teenagers are 20% more likely to want their parents to give them space when they are upset, the survey found.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pull-quote\" readability=\"7\">\n<p class=\"quote-text\">Young people who feel the need to be perfect are 23% to 30% more likely to feel anxious, sad and stressed.<\/p>\n<p> <!----><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Among the parents surveyed, 35% reported their teens having &#8220;very intense emotions,&#8221; Stephanie Marken, Gallup senior partner, wrote in a statement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"waslinkname\"><strong>PSYCHOLOGISTS REVEAL 7 WAYS PARENTS CAN DRIVE HAPPINESS BY HELPING KIDS FIND THEIR PURPOSE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Prior Gallup research has found that children who frequently experience negative emotions are more likely to say that they also <span class=\"waslinkname\">struggle in school<\/span>, so helping Gen Z to cope with these emotions \u2013 as well as their underlying causes \u2013 is critically important to their academic and future success,&#8221; she was to see how &#8220;strong and common&#8221; positive emotions were in young people.<\/span> <span>(iStock)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>\u2018Surprisingly\u2019 positive<\/h2>\n<p>In an interview with Fox News Digital, Damour expressed her surprise at the large number of young Gen Zers who reported positive emotions and coping techniques.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think our results will surprise a lot of people, because the headlines over the last several years have focused on mental health concerns and unwanted emotions,&#8221; she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pull-quote\" readability=\"7\">\n<p class=\"quote-text\">&#8220;We are hearing from young people that, above all, they want to be heard and taken seriously.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <!----><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While 23% of children reported feeling envy <span class=\"waslinkname\">and sadness<\/span>, 29% experienced anger, 38% reported anxiety and worry, and 45% said they were stressed, a majority reported feeling enjoyment (91%) and happiness (94%).<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"waslinkname\"><strong><u>ADHD IN MALES VERSUS FEMALES: WHAT YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES IN SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENTS<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The takeaway here is that teenagers have downs, but they also have ups,&#8221;
