Inside South Bay Lakers roster: Meet Bronny James' teammates on G League team in 2024-25 season

The G League season begins this weekend, which means Bronny James will soon get the opportunity to play for the South Bay Lakers.

Before James was assigned to the G League, South Bay assembled its team through the G League Draft and other minor transactions.

For the most part, the G League consists of young players looking to develop their games and get regular playing time, or veteran players trying to keep their NBA dreams alive. James, like many of his teammates, will get the playing time he needs to work on his game during live action.

Here is a look at who will join Bronny James on the team this year.

South Bay Lakers roster

Here is South Bay’s full roster entering the 2024-25 G League season:

The best player on this team is, in all likelihood, Jalen Hood-Schifino, the former Indiana guard who the Lakers drafted 17th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. Last year, Hood-Schifino played in 21 games for the Los Angeles Lakers, but he averaged 22.0 points, 5.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 15 G League games for South Bay.

Marlain Veal was the lone player South Bay selected in the G League draft, taking him 23rd overall. The other members of the roster were acquired either via trades, signings or because the Lakers acquired them and sent them to the G League.

Christian Koloko is one of the highest-profile players on the team, as the former Arizona center had been sidelined since April 2023 due to health issues. Koloko, who the Raptors drafted in 2022, dealt with blood clots over the past year but was recently cleared to resume his basketball career.

Maxwell Lewis and Vincent Valerio-Bodon played in 25 games each for South Bay last season, while Alex Fudge played in 18 games.

The roster will likely change over the course of the year, as players earn their way onto NBA rosters. For now, this is the group that South Bay will start the G League season with.
