Eagles vs. Packers live score, updates, highlights from 2024 NFL Friday night football game

The Eagles and Packers Week 1 matchup is the first Friday game on opening weekend since 1970.

However, that isn’t the only thing that’s unique about the meeting of NFC foes.

For the first time in the history of the league, an NFL game will take place in South America as Philadelphia and Green Bay face off in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Both teams made postseason runs in January and both teams have lofty expectations for their 2024 campaigns. The Eagles look to reclaim the NFC East title behind fifth-year quarterback Jalen Hurts while the Packers rally around Jordan Love at the helm to improve on a Divisional Round exit.

The Sporting News has you covered with Eagles vs. Packers live scores, updates, and highlights from the 2024 NFL Friday night football game in Brazil.

Final: Eagles 34, Packers 29

11:45 p.m. โ€” Willis enters the game for Love and starts off with an incompletion to Doubs, taking three seconds off the clock. The quarterback is then sacked on the next play by Baun, ending the game in an Eagles win.

11:42 p.m. โ€” Love completes a deep pass to Reed for a 33-yard gain, setting the Packers up with a 1st down at their own 49. Jacobs receives the next handoff and powers forward for four yards on top of that.

However, Love is down on the field at the end of the play and is being attended to by Packers athletic training staff. He gets to his feet and is helped off the field with six seconds remaining on the clock.

11:41 p.m. โ€” Mann kicks it off deep into the end zone, but Nixon decides to bring it out all the way to the Packers 24-yard line. Love has 22 seconds to score.

Eagles 34, Packers 29

11:39 p.m. โ€” The Eagles send out Elliot for the 21-yard kick, which he nails as a flag is thrown. The penalty goes against Green Bay with an offsides call, but Sirianni elects to take the points and keeps the Eagles in front by five. The Packers have 27 seconds remaining to score a touchdown and win the game.

11:38 p.m. โ€” On 3rd & Goal, Hurts fumbles the snap at the 2-yard line but Barkley jumps on it to keep possession. Sirianni takes his third and final timeout with 30 seconds remaining in the game.

11:36 p.m. โ€” Barkley pushes his way to the one on his next carry and Philadelphia lets the play clock run all the way down before using its second timeout with 1:12 to play.

11:35 p.m. โ€” Barkley receives another handoff and goes for two yards to set up 2nd & Goal. Then, Green Bay calls its third and final timeout.

11:31 p.m. โ€” Barkley muscles forward for two yards before the Packers call their second timeout. After the break, Hurts completes an 11-yard pass to Smith on a slant to get the Eagles to the Green Bay six at the two minute warning.

11:30 p.m. โ€” Hurts completes a short pass to Hurts who takes it up the left sideline for a 16-yard gain, setting up 1st down just inside the red zone. LaFleur takes his first timeout with 2:15 remaining in the game.

11:28 p.m. โ€” Barkley takes a handoff for two yards before Hurts scrambles again for eight more, powering his way to the Packer 32 for another first down. Barkley follows that up with a 3-yard loss on the next play.

11:26 p.m. โ€” Hurts scrambles close to the 1st down marker when yet another flag is thrown, this time going against Green Bay. Clark was called for a defensive holding and the Eagles were awarded 1st down at the Packer 42.

11:24 p.m. โ€” Hurts throws a near interception to Alexander and another penalty is called on Philadelphia for an ineligible player downfield, setting up a big 3rd & 7 on their own 47.

11:23 p.m. โ€” Sirianni calls the Eagles first timeout of the half before Hurts scrambles right for an 8-yard gain into Packer territory. Gainwell catches Hurts pass on the next play for three yards and a 1st down, but a penalty is called on the Eagles for an illegal formation, setting the team back five yards.

11:20 p.m. โ€” Barkley takes another handoff up the middle for a 9-yard gain and Brown returns to the game. The running back gets the next ball as well and adds two more for a first down.

11:19 p.m. โ€” Hurts throws it away after being chased around the backfield, but a defensive holding is called on Alexander, giving the Eagles back five yards and a fresh set of downs at the Philly 33.

11:17 p.m. โ€” Narveson kicks yet another touchback and Philadelphia gets the ball back on its own 30. Barkley picks up the first handoff for a loss of two and Brown was injured during the play but walked off under his own power.

Eagles 31, Packers 29

11:13 p.m. โ€” LaFleur elects to bring out Narveson once again, who nails a 26-yarder to bring the Packers back within two with 7:52 remaining in the game.

11:12 p.m. โ€” Jacobs runs up the right for a 5-yard gain to the eight before Love throws one into the stands above the end zone to set up 3rd down. The quarterback can’t deliver, throwing one a little too high for Doubs to bring it to 4th & 5.

11:11 p.m. โ€” Wilson gets the next handoff and goes for a 9-yard gain to the Philadelphia 15, and Love passes to him again for two more yards and a 1st down.

11:10 p.m. โ€” Love throws a short dart to Watson for a 6-yard gain to set up 3rd & 5 at the 50. The quarterback then floats a huge 26-yard pass for Reed on a crossing route, putting the Packers just outside of the red zone at the Eagles 24.

11:08 p.m. โ€” Jacobs receives the first handoff of the drive from Love and runs it all the way up to the Packer 45 for a 32-yard gain. He also gets the ball on the next play and is wrapped up by Dean for a loss of one.

11:04 p.m. โ€” On 3rd & 13, on Green Bay’s 14, Hurts gets outside the pocket and throws across his body into the end zone only to be intercepted by Alexander. Alexander then takes a second to decide whether or not he wants to take it forward while several Eagles close in before running it to the Green Bay 13 with 12:53 remaining in the fourth.

11:03 p.m. โ€” With no huddle, Hurts begins the next play and completes another pass, this time to Brown, for an 11-yard gain. He follows that up with a failed run for a loss of three and an incompletion to Dotson that was nearly intercepted by Nixon.

11:02 p.m. โ€” Hurts starts off the fourth with an incompletion to Brown before completing a pass to Calcaterra for 11 yards to the 22 for a 1st down.

End of third quarter: Eagles 31, Packers 26

10:57 p.m. โ€” Philadelphia got the ball back at their own 33, and Hurts quickly handed it off to Barkley who went on a strong 34-yard run all the way to Green Bay’s 33. The clock wound down to close out the third quarter with the Eagles still in front by five.

10:55 p.m. โ€” Love completes a short pass to Wilson for no gain before tossing another incompletion to Reed. On 4th & 10, LaFleur brings out Narveson to attempt a 43-yard try. Unfortunately, the rookie hit the right upright and didn’t go through, keeping the Eagles in front.

10:54 p.m. โ€” Jacobs continues his success with a huge 22-yard dash to the Philadelphia 25, but he receives the next handoff for no gain to set up 2nd down. Gardner-Johnson also returned to the game.

10:52 p.m. โ€” Jacobs also makes the next play with an 11-yard reception good for a 1st down at the Philadelphia 47. Notably, the Eagles Gardner-Johnson looked to suffer a hand injury during the play and was helped off the field.

10:51 p.m. โ€” Love completes a 9-yard pass to Doubs before handing it off to Jacobs, who goes up the middle for three more and a fresh set of downs. He then throws an incompletion indicated for Wicks defended well by Mitchell.

10:50 p.m. โ€” Mann’s kickoff goes for a touchback and Green Bay will get the ball back on its own 30.

Eagles 31, Packers 26

10:46 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! Barkley snags his third score of the night on a 2-yard run up the middle, putting the Eagles back in front with 4:26 remaining in the quarter. Elliot caps it off with the extra point and Philly leads by five.

10:45 p.m. โ€” Hurts completes a short pass to Smith for eight yards followed up by a 5-yard run from Barkley to the Green Bay 11. He takes the next handoff as well and powers forward for nine more, setting up 2nd & 1 at the two.

10:43 p.m. โ€” Love steps back and throws a pass deep up the middle toward Musgrave, but Blankenship jumps in front and steals it for an interception. The Eagles are right back in scoring position with the ball on Green Bay’s 24 and a fresh set of downs.

10:42 p.m. โ€” Jacobs takes the first handoff from Love and runs it for nine yards. He gets it again and finishes the job, adding on six more yards for a first down. However, Walker is called on an offensive holding which sets the Packers back 10 yards for 2nd & 11 at their own 12.

10:36 p.m. โ€” Hurts hands it off to Barkley for an 8-yard gain before taking it himself for nothing. Hurts then gets rid of the ball while McDuffie nearly gets a sack, and the Eagles go to 4th & 2 at their own 40. Mann comes out to punt and sends it to the Green Bay 13 where it is fair caught by Reed.

10:30 p.m. โ€” During Whelan’s punt to the Philadelphia 17, two fouls were called. One on Green Bay for an illegal formation which was offset by one on Philadelphia for an illegal blindside block. Whelan redoes the punt and it goes to the Eagles 32 where Philadelphia will receive the ball with 8:47 remaininig in the quarter.

10:28 p.m. โ€” The next two plays, Love misses a wide open Reed and Doubs drops a solid pass. On 3rd & 15, Love attempts a short pass to Wilson who is blown up by Dean before he can catch it. Another penalty is called on the Packers as well for an illegal shift, effectively ending the drive.

10:26 p.m. โ€” Love delivers a perfect pass to Doubs on the left sideline who is pushed out of bounds at the Green Bay 32 for a 12-yard gain. Wilson then takes a handoff for four yards but the Packers are called for an illegal shift for a five yard penalty, setting up 1st & 15 at their own 27.

10:24 p.m. โ€” Gary goes around the block and engulfs Hurts for a sack and 6-yard loss, forcing the Eagles to punt on 4th & 14. Mann punts it to the Packer 20 where Lovato fair catches it for Green Bay with 10:26 to go in the quarter.

10:23 p.m. โ€” Hurts attempts a dangerous throw to Goedert but it is swatted down by Cooper. Then, he hands one off to Barkley who takes it forward for two yards.

10:21 p.m. โ€” Narveson kicks another touchback and the Eagles retain possession at their own 30.

Packers 26, Eagles 24

10:18 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! Love fires a pass straight up the middle to Watson who snags it in the end zone for a 2-yard score. Narveson nails the extra point and the Packers find themselves back in front with 11:55 remaining in the third.

10:17 p.m. โ€” On 3rd & 9, Love throws it toward the right corner of the end zone where Wicks was covered by Maddox. Maddox put up too much contact and was quickly called for pass interference, setting up the Packers at the 2-yard line.

10:15 p.m. โ€” Love passes it short to Kraft who explodes upfield for a 29-yard play, setting up Green Bay at the Eagles 16. Jacobs runs it for one yard before Love throws another incompletion to Kraft to bring up third down.

10:14 p.m. โ€” Love throws another incompletion to Melton, but two penalties are called on the Eagles: Baun for roughing the passer and Mitchell for pass interference. The Packers get the ball at the Philly 45-yard line with a fresh set of downs.

10:13 p.m. โ€” Love throws an incomplete pass to start the drive before handing it off to Jacobs, who runs it for eight yards before fumbling. Thankfully, Melton was there to get on it for the Packers and Green Bay retained possession at their own 39.

10:11 p.m. โ€” Mann’s kickoff goes for a touchback and the Packers will start with the ball on their own 30.

Eagles 24, Packers 19

10:09 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! Hurts starts things off with a handoff to Barkley who drives it three yards. Then, he steps back and slings it deep to Brown down the right sideline before the wide receiver sprints across the field and into the end zone. Elliot hits the extra point and the Eagles reclaim the lead with 14:09 to go in the third.

10:07 p.m. โ€” Naveson’s kick to open the second half goes into the end zone for a touchback, and the Eagles will start with the ball on their own 30.

Halftime: Packers 19, Eagles 17

9:51 p.m. โ€” Sirianni sends out Elliot for a 38-yard field goal, which he hits with ease as the clock winds down to zero. The Eagles will receive the kick to start the second half and enter the locker room down two to the Packers.

9:50 p.m. โ€” A false start is called on Goedert, setting the Eagles back to the 25 and setting up 2nd & 21. Hurts passes short to Goedert on the next play for a gain of five, then spikes the ball to stop the clock.

9:48 p.m. โ€” Hurts scrambles out of the pocket on the next play and Nixon is able to make a huge play, sacking the quarterback at the 20-yard line for a loss of six with 30 seconds remaining.

9:47 p.m. โ€” Gainwell takes the next handoff and runs for two yards before Hurts passes it to him on 2nd down and he ran for 10 more and a 1st down. Sirianni calls his second timeout with his offense at the Packer 14 with a fresh set of downs with 43 seconds to go.

9:45 p.m. โ€” With all three timeouts remaining, the Eagles set up a play and appeared to go with a hard count, attempting to draw the Packers offsides. That failed, and Sirianni called a timeout. Hurts comes back out and rifles a pass into the arms of Smith at the Green Bay 28, giving the Eagles a first down.

9:41 p.m. โ€” Barkley powers it up the middle for a 2-yard gain, then Hurts tries to hit Wilson deep down the right sideline but overthrows him. Hurts then runs it up the middle for five yards to set up 4th & 3 at the Packer 33 as the clock winds down to the two minute warning.

9:39 p.m. โ€” Hurts throws away another ball while being chased down by Packer defenders before handing it off to Barkley for a 3-yard gain. The quarterback then hits Goedert coming across the field for a 21-yard gain to set up 1st down at the Green Bay 40.

9:37 p.m. โ€” Hurts attempts to find Brown but his pass is incomplete. However, he finds Brown again on the next play for a 13-yard completion and a 1st down at their own 36.

9:35 p.m. โ€” Narveson’s kickoff goes into the end zone but is caught by Gainwell, who returns it to the Eagles 23-yard line.

Packers 19, Eagles 14

9:31 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! Love makes up for his last two incompletions with a pinpoint pass to a wide open Reed, who runs it all the way into the end zone for a 70 yard score. It’s the longest touchdown pass of Love’s career so far, and it puts the Packers back in front with 5:11 to go in the half and a made field goal by Narveson to go with it. The drive only took the Packer offense 23 seconds.

9:30 p.m. โ€” Love slips before throwing a near interception right into Dean’s waiting hands. The quarterback then tries a deep throw to Musgrave on the left sideline who fails to bring it in, setting up 3rd & 10 on their own 30.

9:29 p.m. โ€” Mann kicks it deep for a touchback and the Packers will resume on their own 30. Notably, Green Bay is also out of timeouts with more than five minutes remaining.

Eagles 14, Packers 12

9:25 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! Barkley takes the next handoff and sprints untouched up the middle into a wide open end zone, putting the Eagles back in the lead. Elliot hits the extra point and Philadelphia is in front two points with 5:34 left in the second quarter.

9:25 p.m. โ€” A short pass to Barkley and even shorter run by Hurts set up 3rd & 1, where Hurts is pushed up the middle for a 1st down at the Packer 11.

9:22 p.m. โ€” Hurts attempts to run but only claims one yard, but he connects with Smith on the next play for nearly 20 yards before the wideout gains three more. Hurts completes to Barkley on the next play for another five yard gain to set up 2nd & 5 at the Packer 17.

9:20 p.m. โ€” Barkley kicks off the drive with a 2-yard run, then Hurts throws an incomplete pass deep to avoid being sacked. He then redeems himself with a completion to Brown on the left sideline, who breaks a tackle and runs it for 20 yards to the Packer 48.

9:19 p.m. โ€” Naveson’s kickoff goes into the end zone and the Eagles will receive the ball at their own 30.

Packers 12, Eagles 7

9:13 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! In a very run-focused drive, Reed receives the next handoff on a jet sweep and careens into the end zone, breaking several tackles on the way. Narveson makes the extra point, but offsides is called on Philadelphia’s Carter, and the Packers choose to go for two. The conversion attempt fails on a Jacobs run, but the Packers still jump into the lead with 10:16 remaining in the half.

9:11 p.m. โ€” Wilson tacks on another five yards the next handoff, just before exploding up the middle on the following play for 18 yards all the way to the Philadelphia 33.

9:09 p.m. โ€” Love starts out the drive with an incomplete pass to a wide open Wicks, who can’t keep his balance on receiving the ball. Wilson receives the next handoff from Love and runs for 14 yards to give Green Bay a 1st down at their own 44.

9:08 p.m. โ€” Mann’s kickoff goes through the end zone, and the Packers will receive the ball at their own 30.

Eagles 7, Packers 6

9:05 p.m. โ€” TOUCHDOWN! Eighteen yards is nothing for Hurts, who slings it to the left edge of the end zone where Barkley makes a diving grab for his first score in an Eagles uniform. Elliot nails the extra point and suddenly Philadelphia has the lead with 12:38 to go in the half.

9:04 p.m. โ€” Barkley explodes up the middle on the next play for 11 yards, setting up the Eagles in the red zone for the first time tonight. He loses one yard on his next carry, setting up Hurts at the 18-yard line on 2nd & 11.

9:02 p.m. โ€” Hurts begins the second frame with an incomplete pass, and then he pushes up the middle on 3rd & 1 but doesn’t get the 1st down. With inches to go, the Sirianni elects to go for it. Thankfully, Green Bay’s Slaton is called for encroachment and the Eagles suddenly go back to 1st & 10 at the Packer 28.

End of first quarter: Packers 6, Eagles 0

8:58 p.m. โ€” Hurts runs it for two yards and then passes it short right to Smith on the next play, tacking on another eight for a 1st down at the Packer 43. Hurts then passes it to his left to Smith who earns nine yards as the clock winds down to end the first quarter. Philadelphia will resume in the second with 2nd & 1 at Green Bay’s 34.

8:55 p.m. โ€” Hurts passes it to Goedert for a 4-yard gain before he hands it off to Barkley for five more, setting up 3rd & 1. The quarterback follows that up with an 8-yard pass to Brown, and Green Bay is called offsides, pushing the Eagles forward for 1st down at their own 47.

8:53 p.m. โ€” Narveson’s kickoff goes through the end zone and Philadelphia will receive it on their own 30. Hurts looks to redeem himself after turnovers on two consecutive drives to start the game.

Packers 6, Eagles 0

8:50 p.m. โ€” Narveson enters the game again and hits yet another field goal, this time from 23 yards out. Green Bay stays in front 6-0 with 3:01 to go in the first.

8:49 p.m. โ€” Love passes it to Kraft who gains eight yards on the play to set the Packers up at Philly’s 5-yard line on 2nd down. The quarterback then throws two consecutive incomplete passes to Doubs and Watson, who slips in the end zone during his attempt, to bring up 4th & Goal.

8:47 p.m. โ€” Love’s first attempt into the end zone is a pass left to Watson, who is unable to make the catch under coverage from Blankenship. Additionally, Doubs draws a penalty for offensive pass interference, which sets Green Bay back 10 yards for 1st & Goal from the 13.

8:45 p.m. โ€” Jacobs is stopped on the next play by the Eagles defensive line from getting the first down, but LaFleur decides to go for it on 4th & 2. Hurts hands it off the Jacobs again, who pushes forward just enough to get the first to give Green Bay 1st and Goal on the 3-yard line.

8:43 p.m. โ€” After a holding penalty charged to Kraft pushes the Packers back to the 23-yard line, Love completes two passes to Reed and Doubs to move the ball back up to the Philadelphia 4 for 3rd & 1.

8:41 p.m. โ€” Barkley pushes the pile for a 3-yard run before Hurts makes a short 1-yard pass to Goedert, setting up the Eagles at 3rd & 6. Hurts then fumbles the snap which is recovered by Green Bay’s Wyatt to give the Packers possession at the Philadelphia 13. Jason Kelce’s absence is certainly being felt.

8:40 p.m. โ€” Narveson kicks it off for the Packers to Gainwell at the Philly 6, and Gainwell runs it 10 yards to the 16 where the Eagles will start the drive.

Packers 3, Eagles 0

8:37 p.m. โ€” LaFleur called on kicker Narveson to deliver Green Bay’s first points of the season, and he drilled a 31-yard field goal in response. The Packers go up 3-0 with 8:26 remaining in the first quarter.

8:33 p.m. โ€” The Packers don’t do much to start their drive, eventually ending up at 2nd & 20 after Walker drew a 10-yard holding penalty. After an incomplete pass, on 3rd down Love passes it short to Jacobs who runs to the Philly 13 to get the Packers in field goal range.

8:31 p.m. โ€” INTERCEPTION! Hurts throws it long from his own end zone, intended for Smith, but McKinney gets his hands on it and returns it to the Philadelphia 19. The Packers get the ball back in the red zone.

8:30 p.m. โ€” Hurts takes the Eagles opening snap and shovels it to Barkley who slips in the backfield and is tapped by a Packer for a 5-yard loss. The quarterback follows that with an incompletion to Brown.

8:25 p.m. โ€” After failing to get the first down, LaFleur elected to go for it on 4th & 6, but Tom moved early on the offensive line causing a 5-yard penalty. The Packers punt it after that, and it goes out of bounds at the 10-yard line. Philadelphia will start with the ball on their own 10 with 11:40 remaining in the first, the score still even at zero.

8:22 p.m. โ€” On 3rd & 6 on the Eagles 38, Love slings a pass up the middle deep to Reed who breaks a tackle and runs it in for a touchdown. However, multiple flags were thrown and penalties were called on both teamsโ€”12 men on the field on both sides. The score was taken off the board and the down was replayed.

8:20 p.m. โ€” After losing one yard on a run up the middle by Jacobs, Love makes his first completion of the season to Doubs to get the Packers to their own 39 for 3rd & 6. Then, with no huddle, Love completes another pass to Doubs who carries it to the Eagles 42 for a first down.

8:17 p.m. โ€” Green Bay won the toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff, which goes for a touchback. A flag is thrown on the play and the penalty goes against Philadelphia for an illegal formation, giving the Packers the ball at their own 35.

Pregame

8:12 p.m. โ€” Olympic gymnast Rebecca Andrade is present on the field during the Brazilian national anthem.

8:10 p.m. โ€” Teams have made their entrances and pregame festivities are taking place, including anthems. Both the American and Brazilian flags are being displayed on the field.

8 p.m. โ€” We are 15 minutes from kickoff now and the arena is bumping with fans. Running back Josh Jacobs makes his debut for the Packers tonight and is eyeing a bizarre record. Through six years in the NFL, all spent with the Raiders, he has 197 receptions and no receiving touchdowns. He only needs five catches to become the all-time leader in career catches without a single score in the air.

7:55 p.m. โ€” The last time these two teams met was late November 2022, when Philadelphia beat Green Bay 40-33. That game, Hurts took on now-New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in one of his final games as a Packer. He bested the veteran and improved the Eagles’ record to 10-1 in a season where the team eventually competed in a Super Bowl.

7:45 p.m. โ€” Saquon Barkley has emerged in his Eagles threads. He’ll play his first game for the team tonight after spending six seasons with the New York Giants. Last year, Barkley amassed 962 yards on 247 carries for six touchdowns on the ground along with four scores in the air.

7:30 p.m. โ€” The temperature in Sao Paulo tonight is a mild 63 degrees Farenheit with 84 percent humidity as both teams warm up on the field. With 45 minutes to go until kickoff, the Eagles are favored to beat the Packers by 2.5 points.

6:55 p.m. โ€” The Eagles and Packers have both announced their lists of inactive players for tonight. Running back Emanuel Wilson and tight end Tucker Kraft, both of whom were questionable this week, will suit up for Green Bay. There aren’t a ton of surprises on Philadelphia’s side, but some are questioning the decision to keep 3rd round pick Jalyx Hunt on the sidelines for Week 1.

6:35 p.m. โ€” Both teams are fitted up ahead of their matchup in Sao Paulo. Fans have been lined up outside the stadium for several hours already, ready to pack the Arena Corinthians to the brim for South America’s first NFL game.
