Dodgers projected to ink long-awaited extension for $23.5 million fan-favorite

There’s only one gift most Los Angeles Dodgers fans want to find under their tree this holiday season.

After winning the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers are hoping to build a dynasty. And outfielder Teoscar Hernรกndez, who contributed immeasurably to this year’s title, just wants to be a part of that dynasty.

Hernรกndez signed a one-year, $23.5 million contract with the Dodgers last winter, and it paid off handsomely. Now, he’s reportedly seeking a three-year deal worth $22-24 million annually, and the main holdup for the Dodgers is shelling out what he’s asking for.

The two sides may be at an impasse, but content creator Steven Russell believes they can bridge the divide. Russell predicted in a recent Instagram video that the Dodgers would work out an extension for Hernรกndez.

“I still think Teoscar Hernรกndez and the Dodgers is gonna happen,” Russell said. “I know it’s taking a long time but he wants to go there… they’re gonna find a way.”

After hitting a career-high 33 home runs, notching a career-best 137 OPS+, and winning the first World Series ring of his career, it feels fitting that Hernรกndez should continue making memories in LA.

At the Dodgers’ World Series parade, Hernรกndez gave an emotional thank-you to the fans that made it painfully obvious he wanted to stay in town. And why shouldn’t he, given that he proved to be the perfect cleanup hitter behind the Dodgers’ trio of superstars?

What are the Dodgers waiting for at this point? It would be a nice Christmas gift to all if they could work things out before the calendar flips to 2025.
