DJ Moore injury update: Bears WR returns after heading to locker room vs. Packers

The Bears scored a touchdown at the end of the first half against the Packers on Sunday, and that instantly made it Chicago’s best offensive start since Week 6.

The score marked the Bears’ first touchdown at all since Oct. 27, and it gave Chicago double-digit points in the first half for the first time since the team’s London win over the Jaguars five weeks ago.

Just before that touchdown, however, an apparent injury to WR DJ Moore created serious concern for a Bears offense that relies to heavily on the former Panthers star.

Here are the latest updates on Moore’s status after he went back to the locker room on Sunday.

DJ Moore injury update

Moore went back to the locker room with trainers before the end of the first half against the Packers; his exact injury is unclear, but he was able to return for the start of the second half.

While Bears fans were hoping Moore was just heading back to get a head start on treatment before halftime, he exited while Chicago’s offense was still on the field in a critical spot. The Bears were in the red zone looking for their first touchdown in three weeks, so they would have wanted their top receiver on the field if he was able to play.

Whatever the injury was, it wasn’t serious enough to keep the former Pro-Bowler out of the game  for long.

Moore got off to a hot start Sunday, as six of Caleb Williams’ nine first-half completions went to Moore. He caught all six of his targets for 56 yards, flashing some impressive catch-and-run ability to jumpstart the Bears’ offense.

Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen are next up on Chicago’s wide receiver depth chart, but each had a quiet start Sunday with one catch for Odunze in the first half and no catches for Allen on two targets.
